When we first designed our gemstone skull espresso cups, we spent ages perfecting every detail: the feel in your hand, the capacity, and above all, sourcing the right gemstones. It often takes sifting through dozens of kilograms of raw stone just to find one piece flawless enough to carve into a skull cup. Natural gemstones form over millions of years, and they often carry cracks or cavities from geological shifts. That makes each gemstone skull cup incredibly rare—and unfortunately, very expensive. We love how breathtaking they are, but we also know their price puts them out of reach for many who admire them.

So we started thinking: What if we could create something with that same striking design, the same comfortable feel, something that still makes a statement when you use it—but more accessible? That’s how we landed on ceramic. It’s lightweight, durable, and much more affordable, so more people can enjoy a skull cup of their own.

That brought us to China, a country with a world-renowned history of fine porcelain. We explored three of its most famous ceramic regions: Jingdezhen in Jiangxi, Chaozhou in Guangdong, and Liling in Hunan. Over a year, we worked with nearly 20 local workshops, testing 328 different samples. After comparing them all, we ended up choosing the same factory that produces ceramic cups for Starbucks.

We applied the same obsessive attention to detail that we give to our gemstone pieces—refining, tweaking, and perfecting through countless rounds of feedback. And now, we can truly say: The quality of this ceramic skull cup stands up to Starbucks’ standard. Attractive and versatile, our new skull-shaped porcelain mug takes inspiration from our popular hand-carved Crystal Skull Coffee Mugs, originally sculpted from solid semi-precious stone. This custom design emerged from a ollaboration with one of our wonderful customers several years ago.

Pour directly from your kettle or coffee maker into the mug. Its handle is shaped like four jointed bones for a comfortable and secure grip, while the base features our embossed Skullis Crystal Skulls logo.

The accompanying saucer displays the Skullis slogan on one side and the Skullis.com web address on the other—positioned to be right-side up when the cup is placed with the handle facing forward, ready to serve.

Designed to captivate even before it’s filled, this mug makes a striking impression during use as well. When inverted, the skull cup rests dramatically on its platform-style saucer with the bone handle elegantly overhanging the edge—transforming into an eye-catching display piece.
