Chrysanthemum stone is nicknamed the Stone of Wealth and Honor, and was shaped over 200 million years ago. It is found only in China in the rock of the bottom of the Daxi river in Yonghe town, Liu Yang city, Hunan province.
The stone is named based on the included crystal patterns that resemble chrysanthemum flowers. Unique in the world, it is natural, rare, and unparalleled. Chrysanthemum stone was first excavated and carved in the early period of the Qing Dynasty. The stone was being used to build a dam when the crystallized patterns in the rock were discovered. Different propitious shapes were carved out of the stone, and because of their lively appearance and unique shape, the carvings were eventually listed in the tributes to the king.

In 1915, China exhibited one chrysanthemum stone at the International Expo held in Panama. It gained the golden prize and obtained the title of “The First in the World.” The quantity of high quality chrysanthemum stone is very small and the exploitation of the crystal flowers within the stone is very difficult.
