Wand is a wonderful sample of petrified wood branch from Madagascar that is just over four inches (10.4cm) long and just a bit more than one inch (2.7cm) in diameter. Wand has an outer layer of bark that surrounds the inner wood structure of the tree it grew from, and sitting at the top is a beautifully carved crystal skull! Petrified wood branches are much less commonly found, as they may have been easily stripped from the much larger tree body at many different instances. This is also true for tree bark, which normally falls off or is removed because it is only superficially attached to the greater tree structure. The natural rough specimen offers an excellent contrast to the smooth high polish of the crystal skull carving. Wand is a completely unique petrified wood crystal skull sculpture, unlike any of the previous carvings done by Skullis with this material. Skullis will be able to continue to offer petrified wood crystal skulls, but it will likely be very difficult to repeat this design due to the rarity of the petrified wood branch structure.
