Frogs allow for the easing of rough life experiences and changes. They bring reassurance when experiencing new places and situations, and assistance for enhancing intuition and one’s connection with the spirit world. Frogs are a useful symbol for addressing growth pains, physical and otherwise, and stress that comes from change, helping one to find acceptance and patience during the process of the experience. Frogs also symbolize luck, purity, healing, dreaming, and opportunity.

Frogs can represent the process of clearing negativity, old habits, beliefs, and thought and behavior patterns by allowing one to gain alternate perspectives of one’s life and current situations. Frogs can encourage a rethinking and reorganizing of beliefs and opinions, helping one to understand and grow when faced with unfamiliar concepts that differ from one’s accepted values and comfort level. Similarly, one may gain insight regarding how one relates to others, regarding one’s emotional actions and reactions, and regarding one’s physical health as it is affected by one’s choices.

In ancient Rome and Egypt, and other cultures, frogs were connected with the cycle of life; fertility, death, resurrection, and rebirth. Venus, goddess of love, was often depicted with an accompanying frog, and the Egyptian goddess of birthing was the frog headed Heket. Native American traditions consider the frog to be connected with rain and useful in the manipulation of weather. Celtic symbolism holds the frog as lord over all the earth, and the frog represented healing power. In China the frog is a symbol of the yin energy and symbolizes good fortune, bringing happiness to family life and encouraging child birth. In Japan frogs are considered good luck, especially for the traveler, and they are particularly esteemed for ensuring a safe journey when crossing water, and for seeing a traveler return home in safety. Frog symbols are also used to prevent the loss of money.

In many ways frogs represent connections between worlds and realities. Frogs are obviously associated with water and the Earth, being at home in both realms. Frogs are symbolic guides for exploring other realms, leading one from the physical to the mental, emotional, and spiritual aspects of existence. Frogs are also considered to be a link between the living and the dead.

Frogs symbolize metamorphosis, transformation, transition, and adaptability. The frog brings assistance to the person experiencing changes in their life, be it spiritual growth or changes in one’s physical life situations, helping one move forward with ease and grace.

Frogs are associated with the moon and lunar energies, night time, intuition, feminine energies and the elemental and nature related aspects of magic. Frogs and toads have had a long history of being related to the witch’s craft, and they have been associated with mystic knowledge and acquiring wisdom of that which is unknown.
